OK, I guess I'd better put you out of your misery.
I would have accepted either of two answers.
1. The Apple II, introduced in the US in June 1977, and certainly available in the UK before 1980.
2. The Acorn Atom, introduced in January 1980
My preferred answer is the Acorn Atom because the Apple II was never really a 'home' computer in the UK.
(I had an Acorn Atom, built from their kit product.)
