The Sony bookstore is only available to people in the US (and probably Canada, too).

Many eBooks have what are called "geographical restrictions"; the bookstore is only allowed to sell them to people in certain countries. Unfortunately that means that there are eBooks that are available in the US but not in the UK (and vice versa, of course).

You can buy books from your Sony at any bookstore which sells books in "ePub" format (except Apple - they use a different type of encryption system). You might try "kobo" - they're a good international seller.
