The difference lies in that when Harlequin publishes a Deathlands book, the e-book version is available on both Amazon Kindle and B&N Nook and e-Harlequin. You can buy the book
through the publisher, but you don't
have to.
Amazon is trying to push Kindle sales by buying up authors and not sharing the electronic versions with other sellers. This is not healthy for the consumer.
