Generally, no. I started reading Brandon Sanderson's blog when he picked up the Wheel of Time, and Patrick Rothfuss's during the long delay after The Name of the Wind, but those are exceptions to my usual practice, which is just to keep an eye out for new titles from authors I like. Usually I hear about them on the various forums I frequent, which is enough to keep me informed.
