Peter_T, many thanks for your complete answer (and Terminator for the extra bit of info).
I haven't yet bought an eReader as I'm trying to find out what the experience is like before committing myself - so I was hoping to try reading a book from Kobo, on a Kindle that I can borrow. It seems I shall have to look for a different book!
