Amazon is winning, even against Apple. Who cares about their education plan? The only thing it's going to do is allow them to sell more copies of Angry Birds and Office Jerk. When schools have teachers that can hardly teach in the first place, what makes them think that they're not going to copy and paste, and come up with fragmented textbooks that make no sense? I wouldn't say it if I haven't seen it before.
The iBookstore is astonishing, limited, and the app itself plain sucks. Most of us that use Apple devices have been accustomed to using the Kindle app since it debuted for that reason. The only reason iBooks is on top of the Books section is because they nag you every time you update/un-package a new device/or see if you don't have it on the said device. It's good for quick access to PDFs, but that's about it.
Whatever Apple tries to do with their books, Amazon will make it better. It is not about getting people to pick up a book, it's about making the experience better for those that currently do enjoy to read.
EDIT: Oh, and a new update to the Ice Cream Sandwich ROM came out yesterday. I haven't tried it as I have class tonight, but will when I get home. There are bad freezes so I'm hearing. Ack.
