No matter which program you decide to go with, it'll cost a sizable chunk of cash to set yourself up. As teh603 mentioned, it's best to only use purchased content for commercial renders, even if some of the freebie makers are okay with commercial use.

Michael is right. However, if you keep your eyes open, a lot of great commercial work is regularly available on sale. Also, for a small monthly charge, some of the sites give you access to a large catalog of assets for very low prices (like $1.99 each).
Once you load up, you can cancel, then come back six months or so later to see what's new.
