Issues like that are why I buy eBooks in either MS Reader or Mobipocket formats since I can remove the DRM and convert without too much hassle. Then I get a resulting eBook that's the way I like it. My preference is no margins, 10 point base font, no headers/footers, no excess line spaces between paragraphs, small spacing between words, and no DRM. That way, I can read them on my 505 and if I was to purchase some other device, I could easily convert for that one too.
I have no idea why Sony feels that they are doing well with they poor formatting. I know my wishes may not be the best for most people, but, what I'd not mind for purchased eBooks would be a small left/right margin of maybe 3 characters at 10 point, footers for the chapters, 10 point at small, and a small word space. That way, you could easily find a font size that looks good and is big enough.
