eInk does seem to have a good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of their tech, no?
And they are actively looking for new uses for it beyond the current cash cow reader market.
Sometimes the success or failure of a technology rests more on the quality of its management than its intrinsic merits. (I always wondered about Polymer vision focusing on cellphones in their prototype. That's a nasty business to break into.)
One case I'm wondering about is Mirasol, what with Qualcomm's recent purchase of Pixtronix. The purchase of an alternative to Mirasol seems to suggest the issues are with the tech, but the way it was hyped and vapor-marketted has me wondering if it is simply immature and management over-reached...
