I agree, the version Bookeen put online is just the GCIDE (with a lot of examples, phonetics, etc. that are not useful on a e-reader) in the Odyssey format.

You can try this one that I helped putting together by "cleaning up" the GCIDE:

(the page is in Italian, you might want to use google translate) --- grab the two files english-english (*.dict and *.dict.idx) and copy them to your Dictionaries/ directory on the Odyssey.
It won't solve your problem with the "uninformative" list of different meanings (that's a problem with the sw of the Odyssey, not the dictionary itself), but I think it is more nimble to use.
