Yeah, it's quite complex issues. A few full cycles help the software to recalibrate. But it can hurt the Li-Ion cells. It realy is question if problem is with software and device or with battery. I do have feeling Android can do strange things sometimes...

Few things to remember is to leave device at 40% and shut down if not used for longer period. Also keeping it in charger when not needed is bad.
