What's new
In general, when I'm looking for books to buy I have two different approaches. The first approach is when I see mention of a book that I might be interested in, I go to Amazon and see it's available as an ebook and what the reviews are. Amazon is great for this particular method.
The second approach is now more problematic. I go out to see what new books are out there. Until recently, Sony was the first site that I would hit because I get very frustrated wading through the page after page of dreck on Amazon to try to see if there was anything I would remotely be interested in. For me, the hundreds of self published authors, PD reprints and foreign language prints totally overwhelm any books that I might be interested in. Sony didn't have those books, so it was easy to see what was new. No longer. Sony now has the weekly hundreds of self published books. The only advantage that Sony has now is I don't have to page as much since they show more books per page.
A couple of days again, by chance, I happened to notice that the second book in a series that I had been watching for actually came out back in July. I totally missed it when it came out. It seems to me that one of the tools that is currently missing is an app or website where you can maintain a list of your favorite authors and it will automatically check to see if there are any new ebooks by anyone on the list since the last time you searched. That would be sweet.
