REALLY?????? Enough, already!

We're going into dog transport mode here shortly. And anybody planning a trip here might want to rethink it. We seem to be huddled under a little black cloud of bad luck here.
Rant, parts 4, 5, etc...

I may as well just make this a comedy routine. B.'s insurance company called yesterday and told him that as a result of a fender bender he had the day before the soccer accident, they were totalling his car. (Okay, this may not be as bad as it sounds because he won't be driving for a while anyway.) Then yesterday evening I went over to sit with him so his wife could go to class (she had to give a presentation) -- and she came right back in the house with the news that her car wouldn't start. I sent her on with my car and called AAA, and had them put a new battery in. Then, about 10:00 p.m. all the electricity in the neighborhood went out. There I was fumbling around in the dark in a strange 3 story house trying to get candles lit -- not my best moment. And finally, when I got ready to go home, there was probably the thickest fog I've ever driven in.

And the truth is, we WERE actually laughing by the time the lights went out. Because really, it is getting a little ridiculous in that household. He did see the new surgeon yesterday, though, and liked him a lot. He's scheduled to have the surgery next Tuesday, which is about 2 weeks after the accident. 3 of the 4 major ligaments have extensive damage, but apparently a high percentage of people with this type of dislocation have severe vascular damage leading to bad things -- and B. didn't. Also, he works from his home doing computer animation, and that makes him SO much more fortunate than most people with an injury like this. It's his own business and he's his own boss, and the work doesn't require him to walk or even stand. So we're counting our blessings, looking forward to getting him back on his feet, and keeping a sense of humor.

(And did I mention that when I drove up to his house yesterday afternoon, there was a car UPSIDE DOWN in the street one block up from his house. A tiny narrow street, and the car was just sitting there, wheels up in the air, blocking the road. HOW DID IT GET IN THAT POSITION? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?)
