Turning off your computer?

1. I never turn off my computer except when I leave the house for a few days. It's on 24/7.
2. I leave my computer on all day, but turn it off at night.
3. I turn off my computer each time I finish a session.
4. I never turn my computer on. I want it to last longer.

What is your usual computer usage? (Please apply this to computers that are stationary.)

I guess there will be an obvious difference for those using desktop computers and those using laptops, notebooks, and other portables that would get turned off when mobile.

It's my habit never to turn off my computer. I do this for two reasons;
1. I believe that the initial electrical surge is more damaging to the machine than leaving it on, and
2. I like to be able to instantly have information at my command. I turn to the computer several times a day with questions of one sort or another, be it a recipe for dinner or a question about fixing my sink faucet.

Right now, the computer that I'm using is about 5 years old. I've changed a few bits inside here and there, but nothing major. It's only off if I'm away from home for more than a couple of days.
