actually, pédibus is an oooooold slang word, it just means "on foot" (how can you not love latin slang ?). i think i first saw it in the Nestor Burma books by Léo Malet (classics, absolute classics. i should add them to the "paper books i'd like to see as e-books" list because you can't even find most of them in paper, anymore).

(nota bene (since we're getting all latinate here) the word you're thinking of is "conflation" i beleive. it's the one i was thinking of yesterday, except that i couldn't think of it so i used "concatenation" instead, which does work but is not quite as apt. however now that i've used conflation twice in two days i hope to be able to remember it the next time i want it.)
