You can NOT make custom columns in the device view.
The device does not really communicate user input back to calibre, it mainly inventories books still on the device.

4 columns for read status :eek I use 1 column with 3 states: blank not read, X (false) = forget about reading this (I don't throw away books I don't like...someone else in my family may have lousy taste ), Check (true) = Read


There is a "Reading List" plugin: check out Get Plugins
