I'll not suggest to use double click to search dictionary, because the T1 touch response is not fast already, waiting a possible double click could make the regular single click slower in response.
Could do it like the Kindle does - tap and hold to trigger select/lookup.

It actually works extremely well on the KT, both left and right handed. Right-most 80% of the screen for page forward, with a narrow strip down the left side for page back.
