I think I'm going to have to leave this one for a while. It's just not working for me. Meanwhile, I finished Quiet Magic by Steve Miller and Sharon Lee. This is a collection of three stories previously published but long not available. None are in the Liaden Universe. All were good, but I really liked the 2nd and 3rd best. Both had that quirky something that makes a short story work for me.

Next up: Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. I'm somewhat reluctant, since I had a bad experience with the first Robin Hobb I tried to read, but others have suggested that this, her first book, is worth the read. So, we'll try it. If I don't like it, it's clear that I can just drop her off my list entirely.
