I just got the DNA results back on the dog I adopted, Crystal. Here's a picture of her which you may have seen already. I really need to take some more, as it's the only halfway decent picture I have. (Click on any of these photos to enlarge.)
The vet said she thought it was a Lab - Border Collie mix. I've never thought so, but here's another picture I discovered on the 'net that was labeled such, and I have to say I can see some resemblance.
My main problem with the vet's opinion is that I don't see the lab in that mix. Here's a picture of a black lab:
I always thought that, except for the ears, she looked most like a Belgium Sheepdog:
And here's the official verdict of the folks at the Wisdom Panel Insight DNA labs: She's a
Siberian Husky/Rottweiler Mix crossed with mixed breed (The mix: Catahoula Leopard Dog [20.10%], Welsh Springer Spaniel [18.17%], Akita [14.32%], Saint Bernard [4.13%], Labrador Retriever [1.72%]
Personally, I don't see it. I can see the Welsh Springer Spaniel, and she may get her enormous size from the Saint Bernard genes, but to me she looks nothing like either a Siberian Husky or a Rottweiler.
