reset the reader (paperclip ....)
flip the power-slider, amber LED should be shown,

The USB-connected screen should show up
and three removeable medias should show up in Explorer / Finder (Windows/MacOs) READER = IM and one for MemoryStick and SD-Card Slot.

Now you can backup your files and may try to run CHKDSK on IM or format it .

Remove-safely, disconnect USB, hopfulley UI will show up.
He/she has already deleted all the content from the device, see original post, so there is no problem with doing a hard reset.
