Love the Kushiel books! I was going to recommend those, but you beat me to it. +1

Have you read the first Dune book? There's a pretty good romantic subplot going on there with a heavy SF backdrop.

My other idea is Sanderson. His books almost always have a romantic subplot but are all epic fantasy. I'm particularly fond of Warbreaker.
