K3 Button Data Access

Hi All,

I recently jail-broke my kindle in hopes of writing scripts for it. I managed to write small java applications, but the program I had in mind needs to run in the background. For the last couple of weeks I've been studying linux/bash/awk and I think I have a decent understanding to start writing scripts. But now my problem is that I don't know where anything is on the kindle. Up until now, I've just been opening random files and reading them, but this hasn't gotten me very far.

A few question I have:
How do I access side button presses?
Where would I find book progress?
How would I access the clock?

I hope these questions aren't too broad or asking too much. I'm very new at this and any help would be appreciated! Btw, this is my first post...
