how to formatting a book for epub and mobi/prc?

Hi, I'm new here
I bought a Nook ST and I started to learn how to create EPUBs.
So I downloaded a new and free ebook, in PDF.
I want to convert it to a good ePub and, once it's done, convert EPUB for Kindle devices without losing formatting.

I'm using LibO + writer2epub.
I copied and pasted every page from pdf to LibO.
It was necessary because the pdf book seems a magazine, not a book (two columns, images, etc).
I'm not interested in PDF to EPUB 1:1 conversion but in EPUB to MOBI 1:1.
I want to keep:
  • ordered lists (like this one )
  • chapters
  • images, floating and wrapping around text
  • tables with right floating text
  • subscripts (like number 2 in the CO2 formula)

I think that EPUB has no problems because there is CSS support;
but mobipocket format doesn't support CSS, so how can I make a good EPUB with tables, floating text, wrapping text, subscripts?

Have you got some suggestions in EPUB to MOBI/PRC 1:1 conversion?
