Unfortunately in Australia at least, not much history is taught anymore. Modern stuff yes, but not much of anything else. Education in my belief is woeful here in Australia.

My youngest has just finished school, so I have seen first hand how bad it was. Kelly knows who Captain Cook was, but nothing about what he actually achieved.

The 18th-19th centuries were golden years for the Royal Navy explorers. Anson, Cook, Flinders etc
