Oh wait, it does look like the KDP slushpile does have something Relevant To My Interests, even though it decided to scurry away and hide from my regular checking sources:

The Pleasure Tube
, by Robert Onopa, is old-school space-station sci-fi which is older than I am. He preserves it in all its pulpy-covered glory and it's got praise by Algis Budrys, among others.

Hat tip to arcadata for finding and featuring this on her Randomize ME blog, and if you're interested in picking up some 1st of series HarperCollins Voyager sf/fantasy/paranormal bargains, they're running a promo on some of them between 99 cents to $1.99, prices mostly good until the end of January, and you can find arcadata's affiliate buy-links for the titles starting in this post in her thread here.

Also, Laura Resnick's Tor-published epic fantasy 1st in Silerian trilogy is now free again if you missed it earlier: In Legend Born

Robert E. Keller (ISFDB entry) has had a handful of stories printed in minor outlets and offers a free short story collection: Fantasy Stories -- Volume II

Previously-featured award-nominee mystery/suspense writer Theresa Weir teams up with indie-author-who-got-her-cover-plagiarized-by-a-major-publisher-which-happens-to-be-HarperCollins-no-surprises-there L.K. Rigel to offer the 1st in said plagiarized-cover Apocalypto series: Space Junque.

Rigel also offers another freebie solo-written fantasy: Give Me - A Tale of Wyrd and Fae (Tethers 1)

And now I really think that's everything, since the netbook is eating all my Firefox windows and I'll probably have to do some sort of reboot to clear up the problem. I don't have these problems on the Mac. Different Firefox problems, yes, but not this particular annoying one.
