Smashwords isn't so bad, now that I've got more experience with them. Uploading a book can take weeks, though. Getting through Mark Coker's "meat grinder" is a chore.

Smashwords is David taking on the Amazon Goliath. Amazon has done a great job being author friendly, but I hope Smashwords hangs in there. Mark Coker provides a great platform that gives the independent writer easy access to Sony, iPad, Kobo, etc.

Scribd got an earlier start with online documents but it seems they have missed the boat with the e-reader revolution.
