When buying books, make sure that if they have DRM, that it is Adobe ADEPT, or more commonly referred to as Adobe Digital Editions (which is technically the name of the software that makes use of ADEPT). Kindle's DRM can only be used on Kindles or through the kindle App. B&N uses a different DRM for the Nook, which is supported by some readers with ADE, but I do not believe Sony supports it.

However, most places that sell books uses ADEPT, so you're in luck.

That said, if you have bought books that have an incompatible DRM, your only options would be to use them with something that they are compatible with, or strip the DRM. Unfortunately, in many areas (such as the US) stripping the DRM is not legal, and it is against MobileRead's rules to discuss how to strip DRM.
