What I've thought about doing is release a sample chapter or two onto DeviantArt and see how things go. With a nice cliffhanger at the end of the last sample chapter just to tease.

That's the trouble with NaNo, not every story is 50,000 words long. I'm looking at 35k or so for my current project.
