I got 6000 words written for NaNo, about 2/3 of which was sex scenes*, and then my husband had a heart attack. I've written since then (5 stories for the Yuletide fanfic exchange), but haven't picked up the novel again and haven't tried anything ambitiously long.
I looked at the "novel" again a couple of days ago and thought, hmm, maybe without the pressure of NaNo I should re-outline it to whatever length it actually needs to be, instead of trying for 50k minimum.
* for some values of "sex scenes." It's sci-fi, and there's only one human involved.
