Getting ready to take my bike in for inspection. This is a BIG deal in Japan, takes about a five days and should cost me close to $1,000... The bike has to be taken to the Prefectural Motor Vehicle Department. Depending upon the age of the vehicle, this must be done every one or two years. It costs more as the vehicle ages, which is why there are so few older cars in Japan. After about 10 years, it's cheaper to buy a new one! I prefer the way we did it in Vermont; takes 10 minutes and cost $30 at a local garage.
