Scandalous is a great stand alone for Candace Camp.
Diane Gaston's Three Soldiers series is pretty good.
- Gallant Officer, Forbidden Lady
- Chivalrous Captain, Rebel Mistress
- Valiant Soldier, Beautiful Enemy
I haven't read Stacey Kane's books yet so can't comment on them.
Anything by Carla Kelly is good too.
