I've yet to purchase a single free ebook.

But in all honesty regarding the OP's question... the vast majority of ebooks in my collection were probably purchased for $7.99 and higher. My collection is not huge, though. I rarely buy (or download for free) ebooks that I'm not prepared to immediately read.
