LOL, I did my Higher English personal reading essay on Hogfather (much to my teacher's bewilderment - she didn't consider it 'literature') but was probably the only person in the class who actually

Seriously, I would put Pratchett up with Wilde for someone you can read over and over again, and always find something new to appreciate (or at least laugh at).
Just finished Justina Robson's 'Living Next Door to the God of Love' which, despite the title, is actually pretty hard sci-fi - so much so that I think I'll probably have to read it again to really 'get it'. Her Quantum Gravity books were a lot more accessibly for a fantasy reader like me! (can recommend them too as a bit of fun with some interesting [but probably not new] ideas)
