In that case, I think it probably comes down to a simple personal preference. I've always had Sonys, and prefer the accessibility of the Epub format as opposed to the Kindle's Mobi format. I think the Kindle is better value for money at the moment though - effectively the same screen for less money.

The advice from theducks is pretty sound as well, although nothing can beat getting a hands-on look at the readers if at all possible.
