I had to use a French keyboard over Easter and couldn't find any of the letters in the usual places. And I'm still trying to get the hang of the tiny keyboard on my eee (bought on impulse a couple of months ago).

This morning I'm going through exactly the same predicament in reverse. I was trying to answer some mail in French on the EEE.
" Ousse qu'ye s'te sacrament d'e accent aigu" only to notice that " Calisse y"en a meme pas. Pi y'a meme pas d'accent grave pi d'accent circonflexe"
Howe easily can one revert to uncivilized language when using such a simple device. Just like walking in the dark and bumping toes everywhere.
