The T1 has special 2- and 3-column reading modes!!!

That means, a 2-column PDF is split into 4 Sub-Pages and 3-column PDF into 9.

So, reading 2- or 3-column scientific papers works very well on the T1 !!!

6 inches is way enough for that!!!

Even single column A4 sized papers can be read - just put the T1 into landscape mode and the page will be split into 2 subpages...

Page turn is quick enough for me. When turning subpages there is nearly no lag, only switching to the next page it may take 1..5 seconds, depending on the complexity of the next page. If there's only text it is very quick. If there is lots of vector graphics, watermarks, etc. it takes longer. But scanned PDFs where the pages are mere bitmap images run also very quick.

I prefer eInk over backlit screens, especially outdoors and when reading in bed. Way more ergonomical for the eyes...

Now that I have rooted my T1 and installed Kindle App for Android, it is the ultimate killer tablet for me

PS: I'm a scientist too
