If I understand you correctly, you want clicking on a sub-category to search for all books having *all* of the items in the sub-category, where today you get books with *any* of the items in the sub-category. If I have it right, then there isn't a way to do this with user categories. Searching on a category is always an 'or' search.

However, you can do it with saved searches. Construct the search you want (the tag browser & shift key can make this simpler), then save it under some name. Saved searches can be hierarchical, so you can control the name space.
