Thanks, Kovid, for all your time and help.

Maybe later I'll run jv16 and weed out all the Calibre registry entries and uninstall - reinstall Calibre and see if it does any good. If not, I can at least use Calibre to convert to LRF and I can then use the Sony software to load the books to my Reader.
