I'm Skippy, an confessed gadget freak. I had an iPad delivered to my door the day they first became available and I've become a huge ebook fan. In the ~20 months I've had my iPad I've read about 40 novels, which is at least 30 more than I would have read otherwise. The convenience plus the abundance old old free books via the Gutenberg Project have converted me.
But that's not why I'm here. I've had an idea for some years now that I might produce an autobiographical photo-blog to highlight the awesome ability to document everyday life that digital cameras have brought into the world. I started putting this into a blog format a couple months ago, but I've come to realize that's not what I want.
What I want is an ebook. That way I don't have to depend on web servers and PHP revisions and hosting plans and etc. If I can create the document I want as a portable file, it is almost guaranteed to live a very very long time.
So, that's me. I've been playing with converting a couple stories from my blog into Pages (Apple's word processor) which I understand will output to ePub. I realize Pages might not be the platform for me going forward, but it's got me started at least. I'll be interested to see what I can learn from this site regarding ePub tips and tricks.
Later!
