Creators have the right to do what they wish with their creations, but private property rights still apply.

It strikes me as disingenuous to take a what-has-the-world-come-to attitude to what what was clearly Keene's mistake. If I park my car in the middle of Times Square with the keys on the hood, sure, I can bemoan societal attitudes when I return to find it gone - but I would still be an idiot.

If Keene wanted to sell his work for a time and also give it away he should have done so in that order.
