Copyright allows the author to distribute their work freely. A lack of copyright would deny authors the right to restrict the distribution of their work. Supporting copyright clearly gives authors more freedom. Indeed, the whole concept of creative commons licenses and open source software would fail without copyrights.

What we need is a market place where consumers are more willing to say NO to organizations that use copyright to abuse consumers.
