If you do a lot of reading then don't get the Fire, just buy a Kindle Touch or even the regular Kindle for $79.
If you want to stream movies , videos, music and any other multimedia stuff then just go with a color tablet such as the Fire.
Personally I like the Fire because of it's form factor and I like what Amazon has to offer (except magazines) in their market place.
