Thank you for your answer. It sounds interesting, but my Kindle is still under warranty so I can't justify the cost of ordering one now. If my replacement Kindle, however, develops cracks I might ask if instead of replacing it again I could get a discount on a K4NT, since the hairline cracks seem to be a common problem.

I've just inspected the mark with a bright white flashlight and it looks like me that it isn't a crack but just a mark. Hopefully it isn't a weak point that will develop a crack.
