Now that I think about it... the "army boots" thing might have some quite unsavory connotations.
Anyway, I'm at the Mac now, so here's some of the Japanese I promised. In kanji, "nekokami" would be 猫神. However, if I hadn't studied my kanji, I might instead write ねこかみ, which is pronounced the same, but carries implications of being young or uneducated.
