The day I first heard about the Compact Disk system was the day I bought my last vinyl record. No more of the ritual of playing a disk - taking it out, cleaning it, putting it on a turntable and knowing that every time I played a record that I was carving a little more life out of it and would never hear it as good again. And then the ritual of cleaning the disk, storing it etc.etc.
I was not quite so drastic about changing to ebooks - it took two or three days to go from "skeptic but thought I ought try it" to addict and proselytizer for ebooks.
Now we watch the legacy dead tree publishers in their death march to the tar pits, trying to preserve their traditional business model at all costs. They publish history - but clearly they have not learned from it.
And no, I will never buy another paper novel or likely any other paper book.
Cheers
