question to dealers on returns policy

From what I read in the forum, it seems not uncommon for people to order two or more readers, try them for a few days and then return the one they do not like. I am not too sure what the terms are elsewhere, but in the UK you do have at least seven days to return it with a full refund, no question asked. You do in general have to pay delivery charges. My question is: what do dealers do with the returned item? Strictly speaking, this is now a used item, even if it has been used just for a few days. But I'd presume it would be re-sold as new, is this the case?
