The current version of PRS+ chose to keep the aspect ratio of the book as the default. This behavior is different than calibre, whose default (by popular demand, over years of feedback) is to have the cover inside the ebook stretch to fit the full size of the screen. Calibre differs from PRS+ in that calibre has the option to switch to maintain the aspect ratio and thus gives you both options.

In the current version PRS+ does not have an option to allow the standby cover to stretch and fit the screen. I believe it is available if you build from source and will be an option in the public release sometime in the future.

In the interim I choose to use the 2.0.14beta build because this version is the last to stretch the cover to fit the screen as most folks expect. The developers chose to "fix their error" in later versions (maintain aspect ratio) without releasing the option to leave it the way it was (stretch to fit the screen).

But as I said in some future release the option will be there to stretch the cover to fit the screen.
