I can understand the basic needs. Even without using the Wifi I like how it treats the sideloaded books. Most of the time the wifi is turned off except for borrowing the library books. Every other reader I have had has required the use of Windows to borrow library books. Since we don't use Windows, I wanted to borrow books wirelessly. That's about as big brother as I will allow, because the library knows what my account uses to borrow anyway.

And definitely use calibre. My use of Calibre is actually what made me want the Sony because it just seems so compatible.

I've never had the 650, but the 650 sounds like something I would have preferred to get instead of the Kobo which I had used previous to the t1, which in comparison is sheer heaven. Because I consider my needs to be pretty "basic". (Sideloaded books get treated the same as bought books, Collection organization dictated entirely by the user, Free magazine sources get treated the same way bought magazines would get treated.)

ETA:
In other words, the browser is actually the least of my needs. Nice to have for the few purposes I would need to use it for, but I am not a "social" reader. Most of my books are put on via USB plug in and put on from Calibre. I just think it is sweet that if I tag something on Calibre, and then transfer it to the Sony, the sony actually reads those tags and puts it in the appropriate collection.
