In Dutch, ancient music (Medieval, Renaissance...) is called 'oude muziek', old music.

Once, when I opened a deskdrawer, the father of the family I had in my office, looking at the CD's I had there (it was before MP3-age), asked: "What kind of music do you listen to?"
"Well," I said, "Mostly barock and ancient music (oude muziek)."
And the son exclaimed: "That's like my father... He has lots of ancient music too, like Abba and the like..."
