His Hearth, by Mary Calmes, is a novella in her "The Warders" series of m/m demonslaying paranormal romantic thrillers, free courtesy of m/m specialty publisher Dreamspinner Press as their holiday countdown special for the 28th, to promote the release of the 6th tale in the series,
Cherish Your Name.
This one happens to be some sort of slice-of-life tie-in outtake, showing how two of the characters from the series got together (and a 4-flame on the ARE heat index showing, no less, so they must have
really gotten together, possibly multiple times).
If upon reading it turns out you like the premise but find yourself more interested in the setting than the sex, some of the other tales appear to be much more plotty and less steamy, with only 3 flames per book and more obvious demonfighting in the blurbs to go along with the relationship drama.
Free for the next 23 hours and 30 minutes without DRM, with all the formats given to you with a single checkout @
Dreamspinner Press (account signup needs no payment info).
Dreamspinner also sells selected titles through Fictionwise, and you can use their
55% coupon this week, which should be good through Wednesday, to purchase
Calmes' other books at a significant discount.
For the next few days, Dreamspinner Press' daily promotions will be as follows (automatic discount, no coupons required):
- Dec 29th: 30% off all their historical e-books in the particular subcategories of Bittersweet Dreams (realistic historicals which may contain upsetting antiquated anti-LGBT attitudes that the characters encounter) and Timeless Dreams (fluffy heartwarming historicals which ignore any period-probable gay-bashing)
- Dec 30th: 30% off all Science Fiction and Steampunk e-books
They also have a coupon as a "special thank you" for the newsletter subscribers, which I'm sure they won't mind if others use if it boosts their sales a little. This will take 20% off your next order
Gratitude2011. I've no idea if the discounts stack, but it's probably worth a try.
